WCA is focused on helping the community in many ways. We are highly passionate about helping teachers and students across the Chicago region. We recently donated to the City Year organization through the AmeriCorps.
The City Year organization deploys skilled AmeriCorps volunteers to help students in at-risk communities across the country. In Chicago alone, the nonprofit mentors young people in more than 20 schools. City Year volunteers also assist teachers in the classroom and lead after-school programs to enhance students’ chances of success. AmeriCorps members aiding City Year’s mission are younger than teachers, but slightly older than students. This allows them to build stronger bonds with adolescents and influence them in positive ways.
